Your application must be complete and received by the State licensing board several weeks before the scheduled board meeting to allow the licensing board time to review your application. Late, incomplete, insufficient, and inadequate applications will not be reviewed, and you will be required to resubmit a timely application for the next available board meeting.
When will I know if my application was approved after the above "Board meeting date"? If the licensing board approves you to take the State licensing exam, then an Exam Approval Notice will be emailed to you from the licensing board within seven (7) business days after the board meeting. If you have NOT been approved to test by the board, you will receive a written mailed notice within thirty (30) days after the board meeting. If you decide to reapply you must submit a new or corrected application by the deadline of the next exam date otherwise, you will be required to pay a new $40.00 application fee when submitting a new application.
What should I do when I receive my Exam Approval Notice? You have until the date listed under “Deadline to pay the exam fee to PSI the testing company” to pay the testing fee of $207.00 to PSI. Note: Even though you paid the fee to test to PSI you will not be able to schedule or select the exam date and testing location until later when the licensing board submits to PSI the testing company a list of all approved applicants for that testing period. This usually happens a few weeks prior to the exam dates, so have patience.
When will PSI the testing company notify me as to when I can schedule my exam date and location? A few weeks prior to the exam date, PSI will email applicants who have been approved for testing additional instructions and information on selecting the date and location of the exam. Note: You are required to register and pay the $207.00 exam fee to PSI in advance no later than the “Deadline to pay the exam fee to PSI the testing company”.
When will I know the results of my exam? After taking your exam before leaving the PSI testing center you will be given the results of your exam to include your exam score. At the time you will know if you have PASSED or FAILED the exam.
How long will it take for my license to be issued after I pass the exam? Approximately six (6) weeks after you take your exam the testing company will provide your examination score to the State licensing board for processing and approval if your application is approved you will be issued a State license number allowing you to conduct low voltage electrical contracting anywhere in the State of Georgia under the category of licensure you were approved in.
